It is pretty tough to meet a listing for a hearing problems based on Section 2.08 and get Social Security benefits.
You must show that your hearing impairment, which is not restorable by a hearing aid, meets the following criteria:
A. “Average hearing threshold sensitivity for air conduction of 90 decibels or greater and for bone conduction to corresponding maximal levels, in the better ear, determined by a simple average of hearing threshold levels at 500, 1000, and 2000 hz; or
B. Speech discrimination scores of 40 percent or less in the better ear.”
Speech discrimination and hearing testing must be submitted in support of your Social Security Disability Claim together with the results of an otolaryngologic examination.
